Take-Up Device

Gang, here is an example of the Take-Up-Device (TUD) thing I was talking about in class. I am going to use them along with a manufactured shear wall system for a custom home I am doing the engineering for east of here. Where possible I design `engineered' shear walls, not `manufactured' ones; however, the spaces are so narrow in current application (24 in. wide and 9 ft plus tall walls ... and lots of `window') that I need to climb into the manufactured systems. And since things are so narrow (tight), I really want to eliminate any `looseness' ... alas, the TUDs.
